Four Tips To Cover An Unexpected Bill

Posted on

People all over the country get unexpected bills in their mail every day. Whether you have a surprise medical bill or your car needs a repair, unless you budget for the unexpected, you could find yourself in financial trouble. You pretty much have two options. You can ignore it and most likely accrue interest, or you can figure out how to come up with the money to pay it. Since the latter is the cheapest way to go, here are four ways you can come up with some quick cash to pay off an expected bill.

Get A Title Loan

When you find yourself in a bind financially, one way to get out of it is to get a title loan. This is great for those who would not qualify for a personal loan based on credit. Title loans are essentially small installment loans where you put up your car as collateral to get money. You give the agency the title to your loan and they hold it until you pay off the loan you requested from the agency. Typically, you can borrow up to the car's value and no more. If you end up becoming delinquent on the loan, the agency then has the right to take the car. In order to get a title loan, you must own the vehicle outright.

Sell A Gift Card

It is not uncommon to receive gift cards nowadays for birthdays, holidays, and more. If you find yourself holding a gift card to a particular merchant that you do not plan on using, then you may want to consider selling it. There are a number of websites that will actually pay you for your gift card. The amount varies depending on the merchant. You will likely get much closer to the value of the card for a popular store, as opposed to one from a store that is not as well known.

Recycle What You Don't Use

If you are in need of cash, you want to take a look around your home to see what could be recycled. There are tons of recycling centers all over the country willing to take what you may consider junk. You could start by selling an old pair of tires to a tire shop or take a bag of cans to a place that buys aluminum. While this won't bring in a lot of money, it can help you push off some creditors by allowing you to pay a little on what you owe.

Babysit A Few Kids

The chances are good that you know someone who has some kids and a busy schedule. Babysitting may seem like something for teenagers to do, but it can be a very good way to earn some quick cash. If you have kids of your own, this could be a great way to entertain both your kids and your friend's kids. One benefit of babysitting is you can set your own price. If you think this is something you may want to do long term, you should consider signing up on a website that advertises your services to the local area for you.
